Amtrak's Corridor Clipper Inspection Car visits Cape Cod

On July 29, 2006, Amtrak's Corridor Clipper track geometry/inspection car made an appearance on the Cape, testing the tracks from Middleboro to Hyannis.  This car measures track geometry including low joints, rail elevation, curvature, etc. (and in electrified territory the dummy pantograph on top can measure for catenary inconsistencies).  The train was powered by MBTA F40 1017 on the south end, with MBTA coach 651, Amtrak 10002 Corridor Clipper, and MBTA control car 1516.  Click on any of the thumbnails below to view the full size image in a new window.
